HAUB LAW AT PACE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES $10,000 SPONSORSHIP FROM ALTERECHO

Donation to Underwrite Largest Environmental Moot Court Competition of Its Kind

WHITE PLAINS, NY (January 2020) – AlterEcho, a leading national environmental consulting firm, is underwriting the Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC) at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, the University today announced.

AlterEcho is sponsoring the competition with a $10,000 donation, marking the first time that the Virginia-based firm has sponsored such a legal and academic competition. This year, NELMCC will be held from Thursday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 22, at Haub Law in White Plains.

“AlterEcho is proud to be the Premier Sponsor of such an important and prestigious event,” said Patricia Derocher, President of AlterEcho. “We recognize the critical need to inspire today’s law school students to be tomorrow's leaders in confronting the environmental challenges that lie ahead. AlterEcho is delighted to work with the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, attorneys, and the judiciary in continuing such a great tradition of environmental law, learning and competition.”

AlterEcho specializes in working with private sector clients on issues that often involve the intersection of environmental science and law, such as: site remediation and investigation; mediation and allocation; product stewardship and regulatory requirements; food safety and quality; and environmental, health and safety compliance.

Instituted in 1989, NELMCC is the largest interschool moot court competition of its kind, regularly attracting 200 competitors from law schools all over the nation, along with 150 attorneys who serve as judges for the three-day competition. Highly competitive with tremendous educational value, NELMCC has established a national standard of excellence in moot court competitions.

Each year a “problem” presented to the teams focuses on timely issues of national importance to the practice of environmental law. The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is home to the #1 ranked Environmental Law Program in the country according to US News and World Report and NELMCC is a central part of the program.

“We appreciate AlterEcho’s generous support,” said Interim Associate Dean & Executive Director, Environmental Law Programs and Haub Distinguished Professor of Environmental Law Katy Kuh. “AlterEcho’s donation will help to fund the administration of the event, which relies 100% on the support of donors.”
