International Environmental Programs

Environmental Law students listen to a lecture

Building on our faculty’s dedication to international environmental law, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law hosts numerous initiatives, institutes, and programs that have an international focus. We also partner with institutes and programs abroad to give students the best access to international environmental law and policy.

Some highlights of our international programs include:

  • Partnering with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and its Academy of Environmental Law. Amongst other IUCN activities, Haub students write resolutions for and attend the IUCN World Conservation Congress.

  • The popular United Nations Environmental Diplomacy Practicum, where students have the opportunity to work with permanent missions to the United Nations on environmental law and policy.

  • The Brazilian-American Institute for Law and Environment (BAILE), a research, teaching, and policy center dedicated to building and fostering the relationship between the United States and Brazil in their shared goal of environmental protection.

  • Our China Programs, which include an exchange program that brings Chinese students to Haub and allows Haub students with Chinese language skills to attend Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
  • In partnership with the International Council on Environmental Law (ICEL) and the Elizabeth Haub Foundation, Haub annually bestows the Elisabeth Haub Award for Environmental Diplomacy on diplomats and others who further the world environmental order.
