Ordering Books

The Bookstore, located on the ground floor of Aloysia Hall, will be open throughout the winter. Most of the required texts will arrive in Mid-December. The bookstore hours vary, and a current copy of their schedule can be found below so you can verify hours before visiting campus. If you cannot make it to campus you can also visit their website to purchase the texts that you need. Before purchasing books you will need your schedule in your registration packet that has (1) the professor name and (2) the course CRN number.

You are expected to purchase your books before the first day of classes so you can prepare your first assignment. Please note that each professor has the prerogative to choose his/her own texts. Also all sections of the same course may not be taught by the same professor, so students may not need the same texts. Take your class schedule with you to the bookstore and they will assist you in finding the right texts for each course. You may find out what books your professors have assigned on-line, through The West Education Network (TWEN), or at our Bookstore. Please keep in mind that some Professors may choose not to use TWEN. In addition, some Professors who are using TWEN may not post any information before the start of the semester.

Through TWEN, you can access course syllabi and assignments and participate in class discussions electronically. In Law School, most Professors hand out first assignments and syllabi before the first day of class, and you are expected to be prepared to participate in class discussion on that first day. The way that you can electronically access those syllabi and first assignments is through TWEN. Click here for more information about how to use TWEN.

If you have received your Westlaw password card and are having difficulty accessing TWEN, please contact Cynthia Pittson, Head of References Services in the Law Library (914-422-4482), or the Reference Desk in the Library (914-422-4208).
