Professors McDonnell and Merton publish article in Columbia Human Rights Law Review
Professors Thomas McDonnell and Vanessa Merton’s article “Enter at Your Own Risk: Criminalizing Asylum Seekers,” was published by the Columbia Human Rights Law Review. The article extensively details the Trump Administration’s anti-immigrant policies and practices, which cumulatively amount to a war on asylum-seekers. The world is experiencing a tidal wave of refugees and displaced persons rivalling that of post-World II. Given such a crisis, one might expect the greatest and wealthiest democracy on earth to show more compassion. The article demonstrates why those harsh policies and practices not only violate international refugee and human rights law, but also basic morality.
