On January 15, Professors Jonathan Brown and Shelby Green and the Pace-NRDC Food Law Initiative partnered with Sustainable Port Chester Alliance to host an evening legal clinic in Port Chester for small restaurants and other businesses at risk of displacement due to development. They were joined by the Food Law Initiative’s graduate fellow Violaine Panasci and Haub Law students Elise Caucci, Vanessa Harrison, Samantha Howard, and Pilar Penalver, as well as volunteer attorneys from Ropes & Gray LLP and Danow, McMullan & Panoff, P.C.  Business owners attending the event were paired up with attorneys for one-on-one legal consultations about their commercial leases and related issues.  The program was developed after Haub Law hosted the “Environmental Justice in Westchester Communities” conference on November 8, 2019, where participants identified challenges faced by Port Chester’s new immigrant business owners from Central and South America.  The event was covered by the Spanish-language newspaper Westchester Hispano
