The Ocean Needs Lawyers

October 3, 2019 Pace Environmental Law Program
The oceans need lawyers

Seas and oceans cover over 70 percent of the Earth’s surface.  Global warming increasingly subjects the ocean, the world’s greatest reservoir of biodiversity, to risks from acidification, increases in sea temperature, and oil and gas exploitation. These vital resources need the protection of dedicated lawyers.

Pace Law has partnered with The Arctic University of Norway to offer students an exchange program and LL.M. degrees in the Law of the Sea. The research community in Tromsø is a world leader in marine and Arctic issues, including the Norwegian Polar Institute, the North Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission, and the Arctic Council Secretariat.

Offering joint degrees with leading environmental law programs across the globe is just one of the ways that Pace Law is leading an international conversation on environmental policy.
