Haub Law mourns the unexpected passing of Adjunct Professor John Meringolo. John first joined Haub Law in 2012 as a coach in our Trial Advocacy Program—sharing his time, wisdom, and mentorship to so many of our students over the years. Working closely with Professor Lou Fasulo, he co-created the Federal Criminal Pre-Trial Simulation course which he taught for the past 9 years.

John led a distinguished career in law, of which our students were privileged to benefit from. He was the founder of the successful law firm Meringolo & Associates, P.C., and over the course of his career, represented hundreds of clients in corporate, trusts and estate litigation, and criminal matters nationwide. He gained recognition as one of the preeminent criminal defense trial attorneys in New York for his federal trial experience, which included large-scale narcotics trafficking cases and high profile RICO trials representing clients such as John Gotti Jr., among many others.

John was the proud father of two young twin boys and a devoted husband to Alumnus Kristen Mogavero. A funeral service was held on November 20th in Brooklyn. You can find more information about funeral services or send condolences here.

Spearheaded by Professor Fasulo, Haub Law will be creating a scholarship in John’s memory for all who wish to ensure that his work ethic and commitment to justice and fairness continue to guide our students and program. Please contact Professor Fasulo if you would like to make a contribution in John’s honor.
