Professor Jeffrey Aber is a corporate and transactional attorney, and a 30 year veteran of the sports and entertainment industries.  He is also an adjunct law professor at Pace Law School, and teaches a Sports Law course during the spring semester.

Professor Aber is the principal of a boutique law firm located in Mamaroneck, NY, and represents clients primarily in sports, entertainment and finance.

In the area of sports, Professor has counseled athletes, agents, live event promoters, television producers, professional leagues, team organizers and apparel companies.  His primary experience is with extreme/action sports, but he is also conversant with sports agent agreements, major league player contracts, NCAA and Conference regulations, Title IX issues and youth athletics matters.  Professor Aber has assisted athletes with contracts such as agent representation, endorsements and professional player contracts, and advised live event promoters on matters such as athlete participation, venues, staging, sponsorships and broadcasting.

In the music industry, Professor Aber has guided artists, songwriters and record producers on relationships with personal managers and booking agents, live presentations and concert touring, and merchandising and endorsements.  He has also represented recording companies and music publishers on talent/catalog acquisitions, content registration and protection, global distribution (both physical and digital) and licensing.

In the areas of television and radio, Professor Aber has worked with actors, writers and producers of reality, documentary, series and long-form television programs.  He has assisted clients with various agreements covering the acquisition of life story rights, program development and broadcasting.  Professor Aber has also assisted radio personalities on radio network talent agreements and ancillary opportunities.

In addition, Professor Aber represents private investment funds and their managers (hedge, private equity and venture capital) in connection with new launches and ongoing legal requirements, and start-up companies with respect to equity and loan financings, software licenses and IP protection.

Previously, Professor Aber served as an executive, personal manager and attorney at numerous boutique entertainment and media companies.  In particular, Professor Aber was a co-founder/SVP of Wind-up Entertainment, a company which he guided from a start-up to $100+ million in revenue and launched the careers of multi-platinum selling artists.  He launched his career by focusing in the areas of extreme/action sports and independently distributed alternative music.

Professor Aber has also taught sports and entertainment courses at Manhattanville College, William Paterson University and the Institute of Audio Research.

Professor Aber is licensed to practice law in NY, NJ and DC.  He received a J.D. from Seton Hall University and a B.S. and B.M. from Syracuse University.
