Carol Barry is Professor of Practice and Director of the Pace Criminal Justice Institute at Haub Law. Professor Carol Barry worked as an Assistant District Attorney for eight years under the legendary District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau in the Trial Division of the New York County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted hundreds of cases from misdemeanors to violent felonies involving domestic violence, narcotics, sex crimes and assaults. She also was the Supervising Assistant District Attorney for Haub Law School’s Prosecution of Domestic Violence Clinic, in which participants were sworn in as Student Assistant District Attorneys and handled domestic violence cases from arrest through trial/disposition under a student practice order.

Professor Barry has been teaching and mentoring students in the Prosecution Externship Program at Haub Law since 1996 and in the Honors Prosecution Externship Program since 2007. Since 2010, she has also been teaching the required first year Legal Skills course. In 2018, Professor Barry co-created the Prosecutorial Best Practices class with Kristine Hamann, the Director and Founder of the Prosecutors’ Center for Excellence. Haub Law is one of only a few law schools in the country to offer such a course dedicated to training future prosecutors.
