Students work with government agencies and NGOs in the nation’s capital under the supervision of faculty in D.C. Placements may be with the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Interior, Environmental Law Institute, National Academy of Public Administration, Council of Environmental Quality, or other government agencies or NGOs. The D.C. Externship provides students with a unique opportunity to work with some of the most important environmental agencies and non-profit organizations in Washington full-time over a seven-week period, beginning in early June each year. Prior to departing for Washington, students receive a primer on federal regulatory programs at Pace Law School. In Washington, in addition to their placement, students attend a two-hour class each week. Application and interview during the fall semester and permission of the professor is required.
