OCTOBER 6TH Concert & Cocktail Party 5:30pm (Outdoors, concert starts at 7pm)

Join us for the inaugural event of our month of Empowerment, a cocktail reception hosted at Westchester Country Club takes place on the outside terrace. This PWJC reception is followed by a private concert performed by MILCK. Included in the reception is a station-style dinner, passed hors-d'oeuvres, dessert, coffee, and cocktails. With a beautiful bandshell as the backdrop, settle in for a moving private musical performance. This is an outdoor event and requires proof of vaccination.

MILCK is a musician and artivist who uses music to write herself into existence. Music is her way of processing the world around her, while also imagining a better one that lies ahead. Her original song “Quiet” with a choir of 25 strangers at the 2017 Women’s March, went viral and was quickly echoed and amplified by groups around the world–from “Quiet” was named Billboard’s #1 protest song of the year and was recognized in National Public Radio’s “American Anthem” series. In 2018, the song brought MILCK to the movement’s main stage in New York City, where she shared her message alongside the legendary Yoko Ono. Having “cemented her status as one of music’s voices for the women’s movement,” MILCK continues to use music as a means to work towards social justice. She released her EP, Into Gold, which follows her journey as a woman leaving a safe relationship in search of her authentic place in the world. MILCK’s song “Somebody’s Beloved” (Ft. Bipolar Sunshine) honored the tragic losses at the hands of systemic racism.

RESCHEDULED TO NOVEMBER 18TH Movie Screening and Q&A with Director 8:00pm (virtual)

Director Jaret Martino, who is being honored with Recognizing (Y)Our Resilience Survivor Activist – Honorable Mention by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), has partnered with PWJC for an exclusive virtual Q&A session to discuss his experience and movie, Donna - Stronger Than Pretty. Based on his mother's life and personal experience finding a voice for herself and embarking on a journey, for herself and her children, away from domestic violence. The movie will be available to screen via private link for one week prior to the Q&A session on October 28th hosted via Zoom.

As an artist, I create projects that make a difference in the world and shed light on subject matters deserving of more attention from society and the filmmaking community. In particular, I am compelled to tell stories where women are the heroes who save themselves. Donna is an empowering film about the journey of a woman finding her voice. Women often must fight for social and economic equality. This was my mother's reality and the inspiration of "Donna". - Jaret Martin

"Being recognized as a voice for victims and survivors as well as someone who is creating a culture where domestic violence is not tolerated. This brings me to tears and a myriad of emotions. It's a great reminder of my Mother's strength and determination and empowers me to continue to live in her reflection and help create change. It's not your fault and self-love was the most important message we wanted the audience to walk away with after watching our Feature Film, DONNA: Stronger Than Pretty. It truly keeps me going to know that my Mother's voice lives on through her Film and that she's helping create such important ripple effects" - Jaret Martino
