The Green Amendment: The People's Fight for a Clean, Safe, and Healthy Environment Book Talk
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2022 | 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.
PACE UNIVERSITY NEW YORK CITY CAMPUS
One Pace Plaza, Student Center East

We have reached a critical tipping point in our fight for the environment: Corporations profit off climate change, natural disasters devastate homes, and the most vulnerable suffer the health effects of pollution. Yet our laws are designed to accommodate this destruction rather than prevent it. Without government support, it’s no wonder people feel powerless.

Join us for a book launch event with Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University Alumna Maya K. van Rossum ‘92, author of The Green Amendment: The People's Fight for a Clean, Safe, and Healthy Environment (forthcoming November 2022). Professor Nick Robinson will lead an insightful discussion with the author focusing on her roadmap to a healthier world—one that uses the law to empower activists and support environmental social justice for all communities.

In the new addition of the book, which arrives almost five years to the day after the first edition, it’s clear how the conversation has shifted.  One of the book's meaningful highlights is the often-neglected issue of environmental racism, to climate change, and to the health consequences of how we treat our environment. While the case for The Green Amendment path has been clear for years, the recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions has made the need even more poignant.
