Professor Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is the former Chairman of the Board of the Waterkeeper Alliance, having previously served as its president. He also is a Professor Emeritus of Environmental Law at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, as well as the former Co-Director of the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic. Professor Kennedy has served as Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper Fund and Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, directing NRDC’s Estuary Enforcement Project. Through these organizations, and in conjunction with the clinic, he has brought successful legal actions prosecuting governments and companies for polluting the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. Kennedy has successfully argued cases to expand citizen access to the shoreline, to promote environmental justice, and to protect New York City’s water supply and reservoirs.

Professor Kennedy has published several books, including The Riverkeepers (1997) with John Cronin.  He  has written numerous articles which have appeared in The New York TimesAtlantic MonthlyThe Wall Street JournalEsquireThe Village VoiceThe Boston GlobeThe Washington Post, and the Pace Environmental Law Review.
