Congratulations to the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team

The Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team placed first in the Northeast Black Law Students Association Competition. NYU placed second in the Competition, and St. John’s third. All three teams will compete in the National Competition to be held in Houston, Texas on March 7-12.

The Northeast Competition began with three rounds on January 26th, with the top eight teams returning for quarterfinals on the 27th. Each team was assigned to act as either the plaintiff or defendant in the quarterfinals, which was determined by a coin toss. On the final day of the Competition, the top two teams faced off, and the other two teams competed for third place and a spot at the National Competition. The team found out they placed first at an awards ceremony held on the final day of the Competition.

The team is coached by Adjunct Professor Betty Lewis and looks forward to competing in Nationals in March.
