Course: The Anatomy of a Trial: The Burden of Proof

Mr. Halpern is the managing partner of Collier, Halpern, Newberg & Nolletti, LLP located in White Plains, N.Y. and has offices in New York, N.Y. and Stamford, CT. He has more than three and one-half decades of experience in representing individuals, corporations and Fortune 500 companies and handles complex and challenging litigation issues. Mr. Halpern’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, estates litigation, employment litigation, real estate litigation and securities litigation. He has extensive trial and appellate experience as well as a strong commitment to client advocacy. Mr. Halpern began his legal career in 1980 as a law clerk to Federal Judge Irving Ben Cooper in the Southern District of New York. He is admitted to practice law in the states of New York and Connecticut and regularly appears in the federal and state courts in those jurisdictions as well as nation-wide. He has taken cases to successful verdict in more than a dozen states.

Mr. Halpern has been certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a civil trial advocate and a civil pretrial advocate and he has been selected as a Super Lawyer every year since 2008. Among his most notable memberships are his positions as fellow of the American Bar Foundation, fellow of the New York Bar Foundation and member of the Office of Court Administration’s Advisory Committee on Civil Practice. He is also a member of the Law School’s Board of Visitors and is a mediator in the Southern District of New York. He has also been a member of the advisory council for the board of judges for the Southern District of New York. He is also a member of the advisory council for the Metropolitan Section of the Professional Golfer’s Association and a member of the Executive Board of the Metropolitan Golf Association.

Mr. Halpern has more than 80 reported decisions.

Mr. Halpern has lectured for the Office of Court Administration, New York State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, Elizabeth Haub School of Law and a number of Bar Associations on a variety of litigation topics.

In 2002, Mr. Halpern authored a two-volume book for Thompson Publishing Company on civil procedure entitled, Civil Pretrial Proceedings in New York. He has published a number of litigation-related articles including: "Mixing Law and Equity Causes of Action Does Not
