About the Donors

American Bar Association
Section of Environmental, Energy, and Resources

The mission of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources is to be the premier forum for lawyers working in areas affecting the environment, energy, and resources.  The Section is committed to providing member and public services to enhance professional skills, development, and dialogue on these subject areas. It represents more than 10,000 members with a wide range of professional interests. The Section keeps its members abreast of development trends, current court decisions, legislative initiatives, and statutes concerning environmental, energy, and resource law.

The Section provides its student members with up-to-date information through Trends, the Section’s bimonthly newsletter which carries late-breaking developments in the law as well as reports on Section activities and initiatives and Natural Resources & Environment, the quarterly Section magazine of practical articles for natural resources, energy, and environmental law practitioners. The Section also develops single-title publications that are timely and relevant to our members’ interests.  Recently published books include Amending CERCLA: The Post-SARA Amendments to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act and The Federal Information Manual: How the Government Collects, Manages, and Discloses Information under FOIA and Other Statutes. Also included in the Section’s publication catalog, are its Basic Practice Series books. This series provides essential information in an easy-to-use format. Whether you're a new or seasoned environmental practitioner, you'll find these books to be a quick and necessary resource for understanding the legal fundamentals of these areas: Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, ESA, FERC, FIFRA, TSCA, EPCRA, CERCLA and RCRA.

The Section’s substantive committees illustrate the breadth of issues addressed by the Section. Environmental, energy, resources and cross-practice committees disseminate topical information to our members through newsletters, Web sites, brown bags and teleconference programs.  Student members are welcome to join up to five committees for no additional fee. Committee membership allows you to connect with others who share your interests and expertise.

The ABA is the largest voluntary professional membership association in the world.  With more than 410,000 members, the ABA provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, programs to assist lawyers and judges in their work, and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public.
