Honors, Awards and Appointments
Several awards recognize accomplishment by
J.D. candidates. The Henry M. Feldschuh Award is granted annually to a graduating student
who, by academic performance and other civic contributions, has demonstrated a strong
commitment to environmental law. The White Plains Bar Association confers its
Environmental Law Scholar Award on the graduating student in the J.D. program who
exemplifies the highest qualifications and achievements in scholarship in the field of
environmental legal studies. The Lois R. Murphy Environmental Law Scholarship is
awarded annually to an editor of the Pace Environmental Law Review based upon demonstrated
devotion to the Review and financial need. Students also have the opportunity to compete
for prizes in student essay contests on environmental law sponsored by a number of bar
associations, including the American Trial Lawyers Association and the NYS Bar Association
Environmental Law Section.

Recent Environmental Faculty/Administration Honors
- Professor Ann Powers continues to serve on the Emerging
Issues Committee of the National Research Council's Board
on Environmental Studies and Toxicology (BEST). Her work
with BEST has focused particularly on applied ecology and
resource management.
- Lee Paddock, Director of Environmental Law Programs, has
been appointed Chair of a newly established Specialist
Group on Enforcement and Compliance housed within the
International Union for the Conservation of Nature's (IUCN)
Commission on Environmental Law. The Specialist's Group will
develop training materials, workshops and conduct other
activities to support better enforcement of national
environmental law and international environmental agreements.
