additional letter can be a duplicate from original law school
application.) Please note that two letters must be from faculty
             members.

3. Am I required to pay an application fee to both schools?
Yes.

4. Once I am accepted to Pace, may I defer starting?
Deferment to the Pace Law School program can be requested, in writing, from the Office of Admission. Deferments are granted if a student has compelling reasons for the request. If a deferment is granted, any scholarship funds that may have been awarded will not be deferred. Students can request another evaluation of their admission file for scholarship prior to their enrollment at the law school. Scholarship funds available in one year may not be available in a subsequent year.

5. How long will it take to complete the joint program?
The joint program is designed to be completed in 4 years, assuming that students attend full-time. If a student's study is interrupted while at the law school, the student may request a leave of absence. However, under ABA rules, full-time students must complete the J.D. program within five years of the original start of the J.D. program.

6. If I am accepted to the Law School and complete the first year of law school, if I choose to attend the Yale program in my second year, what extra-curricular options are available upon my return to Pace?

Federal Judicial Extern Honors Program:
A student interested in Pace's Federal Extern Honors Program (FJEH), and who is planning to attend Yale after one year at Pace, should apply to the FJEH program in the spring of his or her year at Yale. The student should also plan to attend the Introduction to Federal Clerkships program; this coming academic year, the program is scheduled for March 13, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. and although attendance is not mandatory, it is helpful for anyone considering the program or clerking for a judge. The deadline for submitting applications for the Federal Judicial Extern Honors Program (FJEH) will be April 9, 2003. Applications consist of a resume, transcript, writing sample, short written statement explaining your interest in applying for a post-graduate clerkship and a cover sheet (which is attached to the description of the program and application,) and are available from the FJEH program staff or on the table outside the Registrar's Office.

Moot Court Program:
Students can apply for participation in the Moot Court program in August / September of your 2nd year at Pace Law School, which would be the third year of the joint program.

Law Reviews:
A student who is planning to attend Yale after their first year at Pace will apply for law review after completing the first year of law school. If they are accepted to a law review, they may defer their first year on law review, complete a year at Yale, then upon their return to Pace, they will complete their second and third years of law school consecutively and be on the law review at that time.

If students plan to attend Pace for their first two years, and then attend Yale for their third year, they will apply for law review after their first year. For the second year of law school, that student will serve as an Associate Candidate. Law review participation will be on hiatus for the following year while away at Yale. Upon return for the third and final year of law school, student is precluded from being on the Editorial Board, but may serve as "Senior Associates."

7. Once I am enrolled at Yale, when do I register for courses at Pace?
Registration priority numbers will be forwarded in March of the spring semester at Yale. All registration materials will be available at that time on the web at http://www.law.pace.edu/registrar/registration.html.

8. How many credits are required for graduation from the joint program?
A total of 110 credits are required for completion of the joint program.

9. How many credits will be required from Pace?
For students who entered the law school prior to 2002, 90 credits are required. For students entering in 2002 or later, a total of 84 credits will be required.

10. How many credits will be required from Yale?
A total of 36 credits are required at Yale.

11. How many credits can be transferred to Pace from Yale?
A total of 10 credits can be transferred to Pace to be counted toward the J.D. degree. All other credits must come from Pace, therefore students cannot take summer school courses at another law school and apply them toward their Pace degree. The 10 credits can come from either the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences or the Yale Law School.

12. Will I be able to satisfy my residency requirements for graduation at the law school?
Students must satisfy the 90-residency week requirement to obtain a J.D. degree. This requires 6 full-time semesters in the law school with a minimum of 12 credits per semester. These credits can come from either Pace courses or a combination of Pace and Yale courses.

13. What is the tuition structure for the joint program?
A student is required to pay the flat tuition rate at Pace Law School for all semesters the student is registered in the law school only.

For semesters that students are enrolled in courses at both institutions students will pay the per credit rate at each institution.

*Please note that students who have a merit scholarship at the law school will have that scholarship prorated for semesters that students are enrolled in both programs based on the number of credits a student is registered for in the law school.

14. When will my degrees be conferred?
Students must complete degree requirements at both schools prior to the award of a degree at either institution.

15. While I am enrolled only at Yale, what services at Pace will continue to be available to me?
Students will be sent stickers to keep their ID cards current during their year at Yale.
