Corporate Law Externship
(LAW 786S)
4 credit hours (3 clinical and 1 academic), Fall or Spring
Students accepted into this program will be placed in the legal department of a corporation in the metropolitan New York area. Students will be exposed to the various ways in which law is practiced in-house. Students will spend 12 hours each week at their placement and attend a weekly seminar. In the seminar, students will learn the unique lawyering skills needed to work in an in-house environment and learn from their experiences at their placements. Each student will produce a major piece of writing and keep a weekly journal.
Prerequisites: Corporations and Partnerships (general corporate placements) or Intellectual Property Survey (IP placements). Open to students in their final year of Law School.
