About our Honorees:

 

Jonathan Lippman is the Chief Judge of the State of New York and Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals. He was appointed by Governor Paterson in January 2009 and confirmed by the New York State Senate in February 2009. As Chief Judge, he has championed statewide initiatives on access to justice, funding for civil legal services for the poor, human trafficking courts, wrongful convictions, foreclosures, pro bono service, and juvenile justice.  Previously, he served as the Presiding Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. As Presiding Justice, he was a member of the Administrative Board of the Courts, the policy and rule-making body of the New York State Court System. From January 1996 to May 2007, he served as the Chief Administrative Judge of all New York State Courts and is the longest tenured person to have served in that capacity. He previously served on the Boards of the National Center for State Courts and the Conference of Chief Judges and is a former President of the Conference of State Court Administrators. He speaks and publishes frequently and has received many awards, including the William H. Rehnquist Award in 2008, each year given by the National Center for State Courts to one state court judge in the country who demonstrates outstanding qualities of judicial excellence.

 

 

Andrew Tung is a partner in the multidisciplinary land planning firm of Divney Tung Schwalbe, LLP, in White Plains, New York.  He is a registered landscape architect, a non-practicing lawyer, a LEED-accredited professional, and a grateful graduate of the Pace Law evening program.  Applying his design and legal expertise in differing measures as needed, Andrew has over 35 years of experience in environmental planning, regulatory processing and project management for a wide range of private and public clients throughout the greater metropolitan New York area.

He has recently been the principal-in-charge of his firm’s services for the consolidation and master plan improvements at Pace University’s campus in Pleasantville, the integration of mixed-use into the former Reader’s Digest corporate campus in Chappaqua, and the pending redevelopment of the former General Motors assembly plant site in Sleepy Hollow, New York.

Andrew currently serves as president of the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation, and he is a former chairman of his village planning board.  He is a director of the Business Council of Westchester and a member of the Chairman’s Advisory Board of the SPCA of Westchester.  In 2013, Andrew began teaching a course on site planning and sustainability at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Andrew received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Yale University, a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Pace Law School.  He lives in Westchester County with his wife Ellen and at least one SPCA rescue dog.
