Margaret R. Moreland
(Advanced Legal Research for Health, Disability, and Elder Law)
Margaret Moreland was a Reference Librarian at Pace Law Library longer than anyone else. She joined the full-time staff in 1993, after working part-time for four years. She earned her B.A. at Elmira College, her law degree from St. John’s Law School, where she was a member of the St. John’s Law Review editorial board, and her M.S.L.S. from Long Island University. Before becoming a law librarian, Margaret practiced law at a small firm in New York for several years and did free-lance research, but missed the academic environment. As a Lawyer/Librarian for Research Services, she specialized in all aspects of Health Law, supervised Interlibrary Loan services and Friends of the Law Library, and was dedicated to making legal citation understandable for all law students. She also developed a deep interest in prisoners’ rights and began a prisoners’ rights law blog. She retired from her full-time position in June 2012, but will still teach a two-credit class, Advanced Legal Research for Health, Disability, and Elder Law, maintain her prisoners’ rights law research guide and blog, and continue her association with the Law Library.
