Joshua F. Scheier

Professor Scheier is a Supervising Attorney at the Legal Aid Society's Criminal Defense Practice in Brooklyn, where he oversees the work of approximately 25 staff attorneys representing indigent defendants in criminal proceedings ranging from misdemeanors to the most serious felonies.  As a staff attorney for 10 years, Professor Scheier handled thousands of criminal cases, including numerous jury trials.  Before joining the Legal Aid Society, Professor Scheier represented clients in a wide array of civil and criminal litigation and appeals in private practice for a large firm and some of New York City’s preeminent litigators.  He also has a Master’s degree in Journalism from New York University and covered legal matters for ABC News and Court TV.
